Joe Biden criticized Donald Trump many times for Trump essentially telling the other NATO members that unless you've been paying your assessment, we won't come to your aid.
Once Biden withdrew that premise, he found that all the NATO members ostensibly liked him more than they liked Trump.
But should he have been surprised?
As the great Ancient Greek philosopher Plato famously said, "the state is an individual writ large," meaning that states composed of people act like people.
Biden, and many Presidents before him, unlike Trump, liked the adulation the rich kid who pays for everyone's ice cream gets (and used YOUR money to get it for themselves). So, what if we have to pay for most of NATO or most of the United Nations, at least they will respect us that way! Hahahahaha! Funnier words have never been spoken! Think of the rich kid in your class. Sure everyone liked him/her enough to take a ride home from him/her, or to eat the ice cream, or smoke the cigarettes s/he bought.
Did they have any real stick-by-you friends? Maybe, but not as many as it would have seemed on the surface. The same is true for us at the U.N. or within NATO.
Some politicians are just too mentally lame to recognize it for what it is.
Plato also said, and much more importantly, "unless political power and philosophy meet together... there can be no rest from troubles... for countries, nor for all humankind."
What is the basis for any political idea?
With Trump, that's easy. America first, middle, last, and always.
But what is it for Biden, Harris, or Walz? Not too much, as they don't think things through before they act, other than when they seem to be acting solely to enhance their own power (see the Jimi Hendrix quote toward the bottom of the Home Page of this website).
Biden is back to not requiring NATO members to pay their allotment, because, heck, we'll defend them anyway, he'll even send YOUR KIDS to die for them, even if they have been deadbeats! YOUR KIDS and GRANDKIDS, not HIS!
Harris went from being a tough on crime prosecutor jailing people for drugs, seemingly just so she could later say we need to exonerate those people, solely for political support!
Walz's wife was quoted as saying they left the windows open in the Governor's Mansion as Minneapolis burned, so they could smell it, rather than help get it under control. I guess the idea there is to let the larger group of people vent, even if they are destroying others' livelihoods, as they have more votes (a mob of fifty destroying my store has fifty votes to my one vote).
We know Trump's Philosophy is America first. Until we know what Harris' is, shouldn't we simply want to vote for America first? Will she ever hold a Press Conference to let us know?
