Kamala's Mamala

It's really sweet that Doug Emhoff's kids call their stepmom, Vice President Kamala Harris, "Mamala."

But what do you know about Harris' own mom, or her dad?

Although Kamala was born in California, NEITHER of her parents were American citizens when she was born.  Her father was a Jamaican (only) citizen when she was born (she is estranged from him), and her mother was an Indian (only) citizen.  Both later became citizens (although only documentation for her mother's naturalization can be found online; her father was a prominent professor at Stanford, but may have remained a Permanent Resident throughout his career, and although most websites do say he was a citizen, none offer an actual date of Naturalization), but both eventually left/were taken from the U.S.  

You may remember that in 2016, Senator Ted Cruz, who also had three potential national allegiances at birth was called on by the press to explain each.  It was found (previously unbeknownst to him) that he had Canadian and American citizenships, so he renounced his Canadian citizenship.  (Personally, I'd be happier with him in the Canadian Parliament than our Congress, but that's not a topic for this website.)  

Kamala’s mother died here as an American citizen, but Kamala took her mother's body/ashes for committal in India.  

A U.S. President who spread their American mother’s ashes abroad???  

By the way, to become an American citizen, Kamala's mother had to swear,   "I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God."  

Kamala presumably knows the oath.

Did Kamala make her mother a liar, OR WORSE, did she know that her mother had lied to gain U.S. Citizenship, or was it something else?
